Description
Red polished ware twin necked jug, globular body with slightly off centre vestigial stump base. Two short narrow concave sided necks with cut away spouts, twin handles from spout bases coalesce into a single handle, oval in section terminating on shoulder. In front on upper body a small pointed projection, hard pink red clay with small black and white inclusions. Lustrous polished slip, mottled red orange brown to dark brown on body. Deeply incised decoration, on upper shoulder a horizontal row of impressed circles with central dots above nine pendant rows of three to four, similarly impressed circles alternating with nine double vertical punctured bands. On each neck a horizontal row of impressed circles between single (above) and double (below) puctured bands - the upper band not continuing to front of neck. On front of each spout two impressed circles, one above the other. Between necks on front of body a short vertical punctured band. On handle below fork a vertical row of four impressed circles between three groups of two parallel horizontal incisions; above the fork two rows of parallel horizontal incisions on each branch of the handle. One neck and rim repaired. Polished terracotta. The fabric used finds close parallels with RP vessels of late MC date from the south and south-western region of the island of Cyprus.
