History and use
This filet crochet jug cover was made by Mrs Theresa Ada Beadman of Toowoomba during World War 1. During the War, many women included patriotic sentiments in their arts and crafts as a way of demonstrating their support for the servicemen at the front. It bears words and symbols of 'no cross no crown', a Christian saying associated with suffering in order to enter heaven.
