History and use
The wagon was used by Bucholtz Bros to convey farm produce, especially grapes, from Myrtletown to Roma Street fruit markets, Brisbane. It may have been made by Hamilton’s Coachworks in Chermside. It was repainted by Alex Hamilton in the 1960s. who painted the restored wagon. He believed the wagon was built in 1923.
The front wheels were smaller than those on most farm wagons. The wagon could get around tight corners in inner city streets.
