Description
Helmet, British or Australian type, made of steel that is painted white on the outside and the black inside. Dated from two metal brackets rivetted to the steel helmet outer shell, which are used to attach the elasticised and canvas chinstrap.

History and use
This Air Raid Precautions (ARP) helmet belonged to Air Raid Warden Ellen Mouland during World War 2. Ellen Mouland (nee Swan) joined the ARP and her husband, World War 1 veteran Francis Mouland, joined the Volunteer Defence Corps (VDC).
