This photograph depicts the De Havilland Moth, flown by Mr. George E. Sampson. The first flying school in Brisbane was the Queensland Volunteer Flying Civilians (QVFC). Sampson was the first pupil of the Brisbane Flying School and this image was taken on the day of his first solo flight in May, 1927.
