History and use
This bar of ribbons belongs to a collection of objects owned by Maude Rose "Lores" Bonney (November 20, 1897–February 24, 1994), one of the great early Australian aviation pioneers. Bonney was the first person to fly solo from Australia to South Africa, the first Australian woman to gain a commercial pilots license, the first woman to fly around Australia, and the first woman to fly from Australia to England.

The ribbons are for the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), the Commemorative Medal for King George V's Silver Jubilee (1935) and the Coronation Medal to commemorate the crowning of Queen Elizabeth II (1937).

The MBE was awarded to Bonney in 1934 for her solo flight from Australia to England the previous year. The latter medals were awarded to honoured Australian public figures that were seen to have made a significant contribution to Australian society. Bonney was rewarded for her contribution to early aviation, particularly for her progression of women in aviation.
