History and use
This showbag advertises Sweetacre's Minties - later owned by Allen's and manufactured by Nestle. Show bags, with samples of the wares of many different manufacturers and organisations, have been a distinctive feature of the Ekka for many years. As a memento, they are an important part of many peoples experience of the Ekka.

Showbags were designed to provide samples of products produced specifically at Royal Queensland Show (the Ekka), Brisbane. The Ekka is a 10 day annual festival officially titled the Royal Queensland Show, though it has had several names over the years. For the people of Brisbane the Ekka has been a major feature of the calendar for over 130 years, with many attending year after year. It is a special favourite for children.

Part of a collection of show memorabilia donated to the Museum by the Chantler family, this showbag is one of over 50 showbags in the Queensland Museum collection.
