History and use
This brown earthenware teapot was made by Charles A. Stone’s Bristol Pottery Company. Established in Coorparoo, Brisbane in the mid 1890’s, Bristol pottery produced a wide variety of pottery intended for domestic use, as well as items for use in hospitals, hotels, clubs and institutions. They also offered a made to order service where customers could design their own pottery items.
While yet to be confirmed, it is widely believed that this particular teapot was shown in the 1922 Brisbane RNA Show because of the raised badge stating “Exhibition 1922”.
