History and use
Before the Holden, Australia’s first mass-produced car was manufactured in 1917 by Cyclops. Albeit a pedal car, powered by the legs of children and not a 61 horsepower motor, the Cyclops was hugely popular with children. This pedal car was purchased in 1954 by a Queensland family and used progressively by 11 children. Even after 40 years of service, it remains in relatively good shape, and was donated to the Queensland Museum in 1995.
