Alfred Atkinson

Biography
Alfred Atkinson (1867-1950) was a photographer who set up a studio in Cairns in partnership with James Handley. In 1915 to 1918 he was elected an Alderman and for a short time was acting Mayor of Cairns.

It was during the mission times he also captured a defining image, known as First Aborigines at Yarrabah Mission, in front of shelter, some with spears, 1892.
