Auburn Automobile Company

Biography
The Auburn Automobile Company was established in 1900, originally as a carriage manufacturer, but were selling cars by 1903. Auburn cars gained a reputation for extraordinary speed, endurance and performance. From about 1919 they also gained a reputation for beauty of design, combined with excellent pricing and value for money. However, the company invested heavily in the production of more expensive marques such as Cord and Deusenberg, and the stock market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression hit hard. Despite efforts to innovate and introduce cheaper models, the company ceased trading in 1937.
