Vladimir Iwanow

Biography
Vladimir Iwanow migrated with his Ukrainian wife to Australia in the late 1940s. Settling in Wacol, he spent most of his working life as the head storeman at Ford, Eagle Farm, until his retirement in the 1980s.

Iwanow made this table after the World Exposition 1988 in Brisbane, commonly known as Expo 88. Vladimir admired his daughter-in-law Janet’s decoupage technique and wished to create his own decoupage memorial to Expo 88. He set to work decorating a table with images cut out of Expo publications and magazines. For him, Expo was an enjoyable and clearly inspirational event and he went every week.
