King and Empire Alliance
Biography
First appeared in Qld about 1919 in response to societal divisions about meaning of loyalty and patriotism after World War 1. It began as a group of representatives from various organisations “having as their first object “loyalty to King and Empire,””. Originally called the United Loyalist Executive, its goal was "combatting Bolshevism and disloyalty", and promoting loyalty to king and British empire and maintaining Australia's links with same. About April 1919 it changed its name to King and Empire Alliance. Both organisations attracted considerable criticism from the Labor movement and others for their anti Catholic, pro-capitalism, pro-Tory views. The Alliance appears to have been most active in New South Wales, and had petered out by the early 1930s.
