Martin Moynihan AO

Biography
Born in Brisbane in 1941, Martin Patrick Moynihan attend Marist Brothers College at Ashgrove and then studied a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland. After graduating in 1965 he was admitted as a barrister to the Supreme Court and practiced for 19 years before becoming a Queen's Council in 1980.

In 1984 he was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland. Between 1991 - 2007 he was the Senior Judge Administrator of the Supreme Court. Moynihan was award a Centenary Medal in 2001 and became an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2002. He famously presided over the Mabo land rights case.

After retiring from the Supreme Court in 2007, he became Chairperson and CEO of the Queensland Crime and Misconduct Commission between 2010 - 2011. He died in April 2017.
