Ferris

Biography
A company based in Sydney Australia that was founded in 1936 to manufacture car radios.
After World War II ongoing rationing and a shortage of raw materials meant brands from Europe who exported toys to Australia before the war could not meet the demand of Australian consumers. Ferris capitalised on the demand and began manufacturing toy trains as a sideline in 1946. This venture continued until 1958 when it was deemed unprofitable and discontinued. The company continued to focus on radio manufacturing until it was taken over by the Hawker Sidley Group in 1968.
