Len Lawler

Biography
Len Lawler was an avid researcher and scientist, who specialised in research on the medicinal and indigenous use of various orchid species, primarily from Australia and New Guinea. As part of his research, he travelled twice to Papua New Guinea in the years 1967 and 1968. During this time, Len collected several artefacts from Papua New Guinea which he then brought back to Australia. After Len and Catherine's deaths, their friend David Johnson donated 25 objects from Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to the Museum of Tropical Queensland on behalf of the Lawler estate (ACQ 942). Many of the objects were valued additions to the state collection, and several others were acquired as reserve collection objects.
