Identification: Adults have a cross-shaped mark in middle of back; 6 teeth on edge of carapace behind eye. To 160 mm in carapace width.

Habitat and Range: In Moreton Bay, commonly trawled from September to February on sandy-mud substrates, to 20 m depth; also around live coral. Australia except for the southern coast; Indo-West Pacific from East Africa to Japan.
