Cabbage White

Pieris rapae

Identification: Wingspan 45 mm. White above; forewing with black tips and one (male) or two (female) black spots. Underside - hindwing and tips of forewings creamy yellow. Caterpillar pale green with a thin yellowish line down the back.

Habitat and Range: Occurs in suburban and natural environments. Scarce in desert and semi-desert regions. Recorded in all states of Australia.

Notes: Pest of cruciferous crops such as cabbages, cauliflower and broccoli.
