Features: Tail prominently visible from above; broad flat frontal spines; flattened legs; spanner-like claws; bright orange. To 125 mm in carapace width.

Notes: Found in the intertidal zone to more than 100 m; prefers bare sandy areas. Crabs have been found swarming in large numbers on sand banks within Moreton Bay, apparently for breeding. Widespread, northern Australia from Houtman Abrolhos, WA, to southern NSW; Indo-West Pacific.
