Ashtoret lunaris

Features: Round body with pair of strong side spines; flattened walking legs used as paddles for swimming and rapid digging. Yellowish-olive carapace speckled with dark red spots. To 40 mm in carapace width.

Notes: On sandy substrates, from low tide mark to about 10 m depth; can bury quickly. Sometimes caught in bait nets. Northern Australia; Indo-West Pacific.
