Yabby or Ghost Nipper
Trypaea australiensis
Features: Soft body, translucent cream-pink; large males have enormous, white flattened claw. To 40-50 mm.
Notes: They burrow in large numbers on sheltered intertidal and shallow, subtidal muddy sandflats.
Collected by yabby pump, and commonly used as bait for fishing. Indigenous, eastern Australia.
