Graphium choredon

Identification: Wingspan 60 mm. Triangular wings each with a central pale blue area bordered with dark brown.

Habitat and Range: Moist lowland forests. Eastern coastal Qld and NSW. Also New Guinea and Aru Is.

Notes: Fast-flying. Common in gardens because it breeds on introduced Camphor Laurel trees (Cinnamomum camphora). Larva is pale green and rests inconspicuously along the upper midrib of leaves. Pupa has a pointed front end and, like that of other swallowtails, is supported by a loop of silk.
