Dainty Swallowtail

Papilio anactus

Identification: Wingspan 70 mm. Black wings with white spots and patches; row of red spots bordering hindwings.

Habitat and Range: Open forest and woodland. Widespread in eastern Australia from Qld south to Adelaide, SA.

Notes: Speckled larva feeds on citrus trees in suburban gardnes. Pupa has a camouflaged stick-like form and is suspended by a loop of silk.
