The Toowoomba Foundry Company Ltd, Southern Cross Works

Biography
In 1871 G.W. Griffiths, who had mograted from Manchester, set up an ironmongery and repair shop in Toowoomba. He was joined by his brother JA Griffiths, an engineering graduate, also from Manchester. The company was called Griffiths Bros & Co. They made many products over the years including boilers, engines and most famously windmills. These were branded Southern Cross and became an iconic product across Australia.
